Course Memo
The practicum in art therapy provides an opportunity for students to observe and begin performing a variety of counseling and related activities that are typical of a professional art therapist. Students complete a minimum of 100 hours of supervised practicum field experience including 40 hours of direct client observation/experience in preparation for internship. Course work includes relevant literature reviews, experiential art making and processing. Class discussions include a review of the observations and experiences in the field experience setting(s), pose questions/concerns about their practicum placement and engage in discussion about current issues in the field. This course will be completed in 1 term and is 1 credit. 10/20
